For more than 3 decades, Mike Hughes (born and raised in Gainesville, Texas) has been involved in the marketing world; and success is more than a topic of casual conversation where Mike Hughes is concerned ---- it's a way of life. A successful business owner, Mike has led many businesses to the top in the past 30 years.

AQHA has just sent Mike a 2007 certificate for 30 years of successful breeding of the American Quarter Horse.

The owner of Mike Hughes Ranch, one of the nation's most widely recognized quarter horse marketing companies, Mike first opened the ranch in 1979, and it rapidly grew into a million dollar a year industry. The Ranch's continued success is directly attributable to Mike's keen eye for business and his unique ability to promote and close sales. Mike Hughes Ranch has been recognized on nationally televised programs such as PM Magazine and Four Country Reporter, and has won wide notoriety with in the quarter horse industry.

Mike began his career in marketing in 1961 with American General Life Insurance, and was rapidly promoted to Staff Manager, then Regional Manager, and within two years, sat in one of the highest positions in the company-Brokerage Manager for the State of Texas. Mike's uncanny ability to generate sales was recognized and rewarded by American General Life.

Just one of the businesses that Mike has led to the halls of success is The San Antonio Rose Classic, the largest equine marketing company in the world. Mike founded the company and was president from 1978 to 1985. Due to the Rose Classic's success and the economic inflow the company's show brought to the San Antonio area, Mike was awarded the key to the city of San Antonio and was proclaimed honorary mayor.

Also to Mike's credits, are the Presidency of Western Images, Inc. a very successful advertising agency, Phoenix Marketing Company, Inc. a fashion merchandising company, Ren Ellis, Inc., a manufacturer of handcrafted leather products, and World Class Marketing, Inc., a professional equine marketing agency.

Mike is currently owner of Mike Hughes Collections. Mike designs and manufactures leather suede and denim fashion formal clothing for women. He is also still buying, showing and selling horses in between making speeches and M.C.ing for civic groups .... and of course he is a licensed auctioneer.

     Mr. Hughes has been a licensed auctioneer for over 32 years.

     Both the San Antonio Rose Classic and the Las Vegas Rose Classic horse sales were the "brain children" of Mr. Hughes....they both successfully were conceived and managed by his Rose Classic Sales Management Company. The Las Vegas horses were sold in the ballroom of the Aladdin Hotel on the Las Vegas strip amidst tuxedos and evening gowns.

         Mike has managed from 20 to 200 outside mares during the above breeding seasons.
